The latest news about canceling passports!

Be careful!

As of today, passports with different transliterations of the name or name are valid until their expiration date, the State State of Ukraine reported. When applying for a passport, a person can ask to change the transliteration of their personal data. This option allows citizens of Ukraine to change the transliteration of their surname and first name, but does not affect the validity of previously issued documents. In 2022, Ukraine received recommendations from the European Commission regarding the invalidation of passports issued to one person in connection with the change of personal data, including transliteration, due to cases of fraud by Ukrainian citizens on the territory of the EU. For the uniform application of the concept of compound names, amendments have been made to the Government's resolution, which regulates the issue of both an ID card and a foreign passport. However, the migration service assured that documents with different transliterations of the surname or name are valid until their expiration date. Such documents will be invalidated or changed only at the personal request of the person. Be careful!
