Cash in hryvnia can be converted into euros without a commission for Ukrainians who were compelled to leave Latvia due to the conflict in their country. The National Bank of Ukraine and the Bank of Latvia signed the pertinent agreement.
At locations of AS Industra Bank and AS Rietumu Banka in six cities in Latvia, you can exchange hryvnias for euros. Bills of lower denominations and coins cannot be exchanged; only banknotes with denominations of 100 to 1,000 hryvnias are accepted. Additionally, damaged or noticeably worn bills cannot be swapped.
Up to 10,000 hryvnias can be exchanged per person as the maximum amount of money. The National Bank of Ukraine sets a fixed exchange rate that is used for all transactions.
